What is teeth whitening?

Over time, our teeth can discolour and become more yellow as a result of thinning of our dental enamel. Teeth whitening is a simple and extremely effective way of restoring the colour of your teeth, giving them and you a whiter, more vibrant and youthful appearance.

Teeth whitening treatment should only be carried out by a qualified, regulated dentist or dental professional.

Professional whitening works better than any home kit

Our process involves taking moulds of your teeth and providing you with bespoke customised gum shields. You then take those gum shields home and use them to apply the teeth whitening agent. We will carefully select the correct strength and type of agent that matches your needs.

We recommend that whitening your teeth is carried out at night, and after two to three weeks your teeth will have lightened significantly.

The procedure involves no damage to your teeth and the treatment isn’t painful although some people do experience a short term feeling of sensitivity.

Is teeth whitening done by a dentist more effective than ‘over-the-counter’ kits?

Yes, definitely. Home teeth whitening kits that are sold "over the counter", including in many supermarkets, are not illegal but they have very limited whitening effect. They do not contain enough whitening agent to be effective or very long-lasting.

Everyone’s teeth and mouth are unique. Gum shields provided in ‘do-it-yourself’ kits are mass-produced, not custom-made. They will never fit as well or as comfortably as gum shields that are tailor-made by a professional.

How long does teeth whitening last?

You should have whiter teeth for up to three years. This largely depends on your lifestyle – whether you’re a smoker or a non-smoker or if you regularly consume liquids or foods that are known to stain teeth like curry, red wine, tea and coffee.

We recommend you ‘top up’ your treatment at home every four to six months to keep your smile as bright and white as possible.

How much does teeth whitening cost?
